Drawing upon past IALS
colloquia this page offers a glimpse of a typical Ladakh
Studies conference. The reports (available for download in
the margin) illustrate the diversity of papers and the
varied backgrounds of the international participants who
are usually, but not restricted to, a mix of students,
independent researchers and professional academics. Of
course, outside of the daily presentation sessions there
are ample opportunities to informally discuss all things
Ladakh, whether it be over breakfast, or dinner and a glass
of wine. Conference venues usually alternate between Ladakh
and a venue outside India and presentation schedules always
allow participants to combine their interests in Ladakh
with a spot of sightseeing on the side.
We hope over time that IALS members will share some of
their memories and photographs, and build on this selection
of formal reports and photographs.
